Today we had yet another Maker Party at our Community Space @Collab House. This event was planned just about 15 hours before the event timings and it was raining the whole day. Due to this, the event witnessed a turn-up of just 10 people. But these 10 participants were so enthusiastic that they made up for the low turn-up.
This event started at 2:00 P.M. with me explaining about Popcorn-Maker and other WebMaker Tools. Since there were only 10 participants, I thought of teaching them by sitting beside them and explaining everything with them checking it out spontaneously in their laptops instead of the typical teaching style. This gave the participants more understanding. This ended at about 3:00 P.M.
Then, Akshay came forward and we had an introduction on how to use GitHub and how to start solving bugs. Even Akshay used the same method of teaching so that every could get a better understanding on what was going on. This went on till 4:00 P.M. Then we had a short Application Development for Firefox OS by Santosh and Sumanth. This carried on till 4:30 P.M.
Then it was time for the participants to start working. A few participants opted for WebMaker Tools, a few for Bug solving and the others opted for starting application development. In between this, many participants got a few doubts which were cleared by Me, Sumanth, Raghuram, Santosh, Sanjay and Akshay.They worked till 6:00 and then started going home as it was getting late and was raining continuously due to which there were a lot of traffic congestion at various places.
The mentors and organizers then sat together to discuss the feedback and suggestions received and plan for the next week’s event.
